Sean's 1st Birthday

My little boy turned one yesterday!!! I can't believe how time flies.
We were planning on having a huge celebration in conjunction with my parent's annual Santa Party. Unfortunately Mother Nature didn't cooperate and the only people that made it to my parents house were Sean,Mark and I and my two sisters (and we all had overnight bags in case we got stuck there). We still had alot of fun celebrating Sean's b-day. Sean got a whole bunch of great gifts as you see below. He loved his Red Radio Flyer wagon and got rides all around the house!

Despite the snow(and lack of children) Santa still showed up at the party as usual. So Sean had a little one on one time with Santa.

He wasn't entirely thrilled by that idea.....
Eventually he warmed up to him but not enough to really sit on his lap. We'll save that for next year.

Oh and big news.......Sean took his first steps on his own last night. He had a huge cheering section and was walking back and forth from person to person. This is the first time that he's actually walked for any significant length with holding onto something. We were all very impressed!!!

Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas

On Sunday I took my family to see the musical Emmit Otter's Jugband Christmas as part of their Christmas present. Emmit Otter's Jugband Christmas was originally a Jim Henson video that my sisters and I remember fondly from growing up. Not many people have heard of it and if you watch it now, its a little anti-climactic. The "special effects" are pretty low-tech but the story is very sweet. Sean was incredibly well behaved at the show. He was enthralled by the singing and dancing.

Lauren and Kristen's Visit

Lauren and Kristen both had the day off today and we all decided it would be a great day to come down and take Sean to the local Children's museum. The only problem was that this morning I woke to about an inch of water all throughout my basement!!! Poor Lauren, I called and woke her up at 7am begging her to come down a little earlier than planned. Cleaning up from a flood with a 1 yr old is not an easy task. So Lauren and Kristen came down early and while one of them played with Sean the other one and I worked on emptying the water out of our basement. It seemed like a never ending battle until Lauren and I were able to get the sump pump working again. Thanks Lauren and Kristen for all your help.....I would still be swimming now if it weren't for you two.
Here's what the basement looked like:

We did finally get to the children's museum..................

This past weekend.

Sean can make a toy out of anything...................

Here's Sean helping to decorate my parent's Christmas Tree. I'm not sure if "helping" is the right word.....

USS NH Holiday Party

Sean and I attended the USS New Hampshire holiday party today. We decorated cookies, got a visit from Santa and played with all the other kids. Sean was pretty good with Santa. This is our second time visitng Santa. The first, in the mall, didn't go so well. Sean was fine until I started to back away so they could take the picture. We managed to snap a decent picture in between the tears. Today was alot different. I didn't leave Sean on Santa's lap but he really warmed up to him. Maybe we just have to ease him into the idea of Santa. Maybe it helped that Santa gave him a gift this time, I don't know.....
